Create Shaded Areas with Plants

Outdoor fireplace landscaping

Winter is finally over and the temperature is rising. Create a cool and inviting outdoor area with plants creating shaded areas. Grasshopper Gardens has a fully stocked nursery and will work with you to design and implement the design you’re searching for.

While designing your landscape, think of the bigger picture. How much shade do you desire? You also want to keep in mind whether your idea will be functional for your landscape.

Adding Shrubs

Create shade on your path, or walkways, by installing shrubs. Keeping the edges uniform by installing the same species of shrub. To maximize shade coverage on your paths, shrubs that are 1-3 feet will give an optimal amount of coverage.

Vine Covered Arbor

Installing an arbor for vines to twist, climb, and cover not only looks beautiful but can be a great source of shade. Many species of vine plants flower as well, which truly enhances the beauty of your outdoor space.

Trees

Trees are an obvious answer when it comes to shade. When designing the landscape of your dreams, consider how much area you want shaded or open. Done properly, you can even create “pockets” of shade. Having them run along the border of your landscape creates a nice shaded edge, leaving the middle to bask in the sun.

Grasshopper Gardens will work with you from the design stage all the way until the job is finished, answering any questions you may have along the way. Contact us today to receive a free estimate and to get started on your project!
