Ideally, you will want to contact a team of professionals to handle your landscape design, but we’ve gathered a list of tips to keep in mind so you can avoid any landscape design mistakes!
Forgetting About Function – Of course the beauty of your landscape and design are important, but, function is also as important to remember. Laying out the area so that the grilling and entertaining area is closer to the house is ideal as opposed to them being across the yard. Carrying food to and from the house isn’t always ideal. It is possible for beauty and function to coexist!
Lighting – Lighting or lack thereof is an important piece to your landscape design puzzle. Having a light installation is key to extend the time you’re outside enjoying your landscape. But, you don’t want to overwhelm your property or your guests with too many lights, or overly bright lights.
Not Having A Plan In Place – This is arguably the biggest key. Since you will be spending a large amount of time enjoying your outdoor living space, you need to give the design plan a considerable amount of time and thought. Without a plan, it will likely lead to wasted time, effort, and money. It will also make your landscape look like an uncontrolled mess.
Plants – You know you want plants, but, not every plant thrives in every area. Area meaning: the great Northeast and our climate, but, also your yard. You will need to keep in mind how much sunlight each section of your yard receives, and then plan accordingly. A big mistake to make would be to plant something in the shade that requires 8 or more hours of sunlight each day. Additionally, keep in mind how much space the plants need and ensure you are giving them adequate room to grow.
Contact A Professional – This step is very important, contact the professionals of Grasshopper Gardens to avoid these mishaps and many others! Our experience will make any landscape mistake a mere memory of the past and will give you an area you will enjoy for years to come.
