  • What’s your work area?

    We serve Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, and Washington counties.

  • Do you install hydroseeded lawns?

    Yes, as well as sod installation.

  • Can you provide us with a design for our yard?

    Yes, one of our talented designers can meet with you to discuss and transform your yard, both creatively and functionally.

  • I have crabgrass. What should I do?

    Our lawn program can prevent and treat crabgrass.

  • Do you have any tick control treatments?

    Yes, we can treat the perimeter of your yard to prevent ticks and other insects from entering.

  • Do you install patios?

    Yes, we are fully equipped to install patios, walkways and walls.

  • Why does my lawn look red?

    You may have a fungus called “red thread” which is typically caused from too much moisture in the thatch layer.

  • When is the best time to water my lawn?

  • Do you de-thatch lawns and why is it necessary?

    Yes, it is important to maintain a healthy thatch layer of less than ½ inch, anything more can start to have adverse effects on your lawn.

  • When do you aerate and why does it need to be done?

    Aeration can be done anytime of the year, but we aerate in the fall. Aeration helps remove excess thatch; it also promotes deep root growth and gives water and nutrients a direct path to the root zone.

  • Why do I have browns spots in my lawn today when there were none the day before?

    Brown spots can be caused by a variety of different things; here are a few possible reasons. Fungus, lawn is too dry, lawn is stressed, and chemical burn, are a few possible reasons. Call our office and have a professional come out and diagnose the lawn and help you fix the problem.

  • What plants do Japanese beetles love to eat? What methods of control do we offer for beetles?

    Japanese beetles love to eat the leaves of cherry, birch, roses, linden and about 200 other species of plants. We can treat them in the lawn when they are in the grub stage, we can also treat them in their adult stage with a kill on contact spray.

  • I have moles, does that mean I have a grub problem? Why do I have moles? Do you offer a service that will get rid of moles?

    Moles do not mean that you have a grub problem. Moles main entrée are earth worms, which are most likely present in your yard. Grasshopper Gardens can apply mole baits to the active tunnels to help get rid of them.

  • How do I tell if I have grubs?

    The best way to tell if you have grubs is to cut back a 1 square foot section of sod and look for them in the top three inches of soil. If you see grubs present, count them, if there are more than 8-10 grubs in that one square foot area it is very important to get the treated.

  • Why do I have Fungus in my lawn and my neighbors lawn is perfect?

    All lawns are not created equal. There are many different reasons why you may have fungus and your neighbor may not. The soil used when the lawn was first put in may be different, your watering schedules may be different, your fertilizer treatments may be different, your sun/shade coverage may be different and most importantly the type of seed used when seeding the lawn may be different.

  • What colors of mulch do you use?

    Natural brown, black and red.
